Calendar of Coming Events

Our church has been busy this summer in many different aspects.  A lot of volunteer time has been put in doing work or creating upcoming events.  Here’s a quick look at some of our committee work and activity.

Many hours of donated time were given to help maintain the yard and gardens.  The church yard is looking wonderful.  Thanks to all who have volunteered in any way.  This includes those who pulled weeds, mowed, removed stumps & dead trees, planted flowers, or watered.

We are very grateful to have a Web Site (www.virginiastreetchurch.org), and for the time donated to maintain this  site.  We will place  more information about up-coming events on the web site so please continue to go to the site often.

The SGO committee (stewardship, growth and outreach) has spent many hours this summer putting together programs to interest the community and our own congregation.  For example, we are planning a series of concerts and lectures including classical, bluegrass & folk music.  More information will be added to the web site soon.

The Worship committee will dedicate this year to create  a mixture of worship styles and to have more participation by members of the congregation.   If you would like to help out with a part of the service (i.e. Readings, poetry, or part of the message), please let Eric Hoffman or Erik Lange know.

Thanks to everyone who has taken some time this year to help clean the church.  This may seem like an “unglorified task,” but can be very rewarding.  If you wish to donate some cleaning time, please see the bulletin board in the parish hall.

The board of trustees has been working on ways of decreasing expenses and increasing revenue.  If you have ideas, please attend one or more of our board meetings.  The task of running a church takes  many personality types.  The board of trustees meets once each month after church.  Thanks to all of the members of the board for their volunteer time.  The board is an essential part of the church as it is the decision maker of policy and procedure.

As you see, committee work is very important in keeping our church going.  If you would like to participate in any of the committees, come to a board meeting, or talk to Carla Abler-Erickson—our president.
